Business Description

C.V. Update and review of the services offered. (Revised Jun.’08).

The original Consultancy offered Counselling and Audit in Quality Assurance. Increasingly Clients requested counselling relating to Health and Safety.

The Consultancy is particularly focussed on relatively small Companies in the Service Industry and their special needs. Experience to date has included a wide range of disciplines and activities. Clients have been prepared for ISO 9001, and assisted with Policy Statements, provided with Risk Assessments, Permits to Work and Health and Safety Plans. In house presentations and training have included Internal Auditing and the Working Time Regulations. Clients have been supported by qualified written references and expert attendance at Planning or Safety Meetings, including being retained as an "Expert Witness" in Civil Damages claims.

To meet these requirements formal training was undertaken leading to the National Diploma of the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, which with five years relevant experience met the requirements for Fellowship of the Chartered Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and registration as an approved Consultant, which in turn requires the completion of Continuing Professional Development. This also maintains the status of Chartered Engineer for the Proprietor. Formal training in Construction Safety leading to the Diploma in Construction Health and Safety Management of the Royal Society of Health, with Distinction and the issue of a Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card, gives access to Construction Sites.

More recently Seminars and Lectures in Environment Protection Management and related subjects by the Institutions (IET, CQI, and CIOSH) have been attended, and have added additional competence. In particular a Course at IOSH on the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres (DSEAR) Approved Code of Practice was attended to be able to advise Clients on complying with the European ATEX Directives. A three day course at IOSH covered all aspects of a Single or Joint Expert Witness under the revised Civil Procedures Rules based on Lord Woolf’s Report “Access to Justice”. The major change in the Construction Design and Management Regulations (2007) has been addressed by revised Work Instructions and Toolbox Talks for all Clients affected.

Professional Indemnity Insurance expressly covers acting as a Construction Co-ordinator in construction, as well as Counselling and Auditing in both Quality Management and Health and Safety. Appropriate Public Liability Insurance cover is also maintained.

Particular interest has always been shown in Health and Safety Law, following from early Law studies at and after University, and continued to the present policy of keeping up to date with European Directives and the consequent Regulations in English Law. The Consultancy remains under the control of the Proprietor, to ensure that the high level of service on which the present reputation has been built will be maintained
